In the Moscow region, police detained a courier of telephone fraudsters who introduced themselves as employees of Rosfinmonitoring and the FSB of Russia.

🚨 Police officers detained a 22-year-old resident of the Moscow region , suspected of committing fraud on an especially large scale .

What happened?

1️⃣ A 76-year-old resident of Zvenigorod received a message in a messenger with an offer to join a communal chat. She clicked on the link and reported the received code to the group administrator.

2. After that, she received information that her personal account on Public Services had been hacked, and she needed to call the specified numbers.

3. The scammers introduced themselves as employees of Rosfinmonitoring and the FSB of Russia. They assured the woman that a general power of attorney had been issued on her behalf to manage all property for a man who was allegedly an extremist, and she herself could be recognized as an accomplice. Unknown persons demanded to transfer all the savings to a "treasury employee" for placement in a "special" safe deposit box.

4. Being under pressure from scammers, the pensioner followed their instructions and handed over 12 million rubles to the courier.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the operational search measures, the police detained the messenger, who took the money from the applicant.

Further measures are being taken to identify and detain the accomplices of this crime.

Representatives of the department do not call citizens, do not send emails about the freezing of money transfers with an offer to pay taxes / costs / fines to unblock accounts.
