Starting January 27, 2027: •Contacts permissions: Developers must use the Android Contact Picker for apps that do not require broad contact access. This more secure, easy-to-integrate alternative minimizes data collection and improves user safety. •Location permissions: To better protect user privacy, the location button is now the recommended minimum scope alternative for apps requiring precise location. This update aligns with our sensitive permissions requirements and data minimization standards. •Switch to the Geofence API as foreground service location will no longer be permitted for geofencing.
